TEXARKANA, Ark. – The NM State men's golf team wrapped up its season on Wednesday afternoon at the Texarkana Country Club. The Aggies concluded its three-day stay in Arkansas by shooting two over par to finish the championship in seventh place with a cumulative score of 890 (+22).
Western Kentucky's Luke Fuller ultimately took home the individual crown as he finished with a 54-hole score of 209 (-7). The match play semifinal matchups were also set on Wednesday as the tournament will continue on Thursday morning with No. 1 LA Tech taking on No. 4 UTEP while No. 2 Sam Houston will face off with No. 3 Liberty.
Individually, NM State was led by
Anthony Lara who finished as the low Aggie for the second straight week. Following a final-round 72 (E), Lara concluded the event three shots over par to place 13
th out of 40 individuals. Meanwhile, a pair of strong final rounds from
Alvaro Morales and
Javier Delgadillo resulted in the two finishing five strokes over par while working their way into a three-way tie for 16
th. On Wednesday, Morales recorded a 72 (E) to mark his lowest round of the week while Delgadillo finished with a 71 (-1) across the final 18 holes to also turn in his best score of the week.
Morales' final round also included one of the tournament's five birdies this week as he posted a three on the par-five seventh.
Vari Mariscal recorded the Aggies' fourth-best score of the day as he posted a 75 (+3) to put a bow on his CUSA Championship debut. Additionally,
Alexandre Bauduin carded a 76 (+4) to end his week tied for 34
th.
