Aggies Set to Host the 2024 Aggie Invitational to Open Fall Season

| By:

NM State welcomes Abilene Christian, UTEP, and Western New Mexico for a weekend of competitive play.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Kicking off the fall season, the Aggies will open hosting the Aggie Invitational from Friday, Sept. 20 to Sunday, Sept. 22 at the NMSU Tennis Center.

For the second consecutive year, the NM State women's tennis team will open their season at home, hosting Abilene Christian, UTEP, and Western New Mexico at the NMSU Tennis Center. The tournament, featuring a hidden dual format, will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this weekend. The Aggies will open with doubles play at 9 a.m. with singles play to immediately follow

The 2024 AGGIES

As the new season approaches, the Aggies are set to return five key players while adding in two promising newcomers to their roster. Leading the team is Anna Pinaieva, who is expected to impress after earning All-CUSA Second Team honors in singles last season. The Ukraine native has been a standout player since her freshman year, when she earned All-WAC recognition, and looks to build on that momentum.

Among the returners are Lisa Zhu and Whitney Moon, both of whom are poised for impactful seasons. Together with Pinaieva, this trio combined for an impressive 11-4 singles record last season, while also adding a 6-6 mark in doubles play, showing their importance to the team's success.

On the freshman front, NM State welcomes two additions: Montana Parkinson-Lubold and Nadia Nemeth. Parkinson-Lubold, a four-star recruit hailing from Pleasanton, Calif., made a name for herself by securing back-to-back North Coast Section Division I singles titles in high school, bringing strong credentials to her collegiate debut. With these newcomers and returning talent, the Aggies look well-equipped for a strong season.
