SEASIDE, Calif. – The NM State men's golf team teed off at the Saint Mary's Invitational on Monday, completing the opening round at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside, Calif. After 18 holes of play, the Aggies sit in 14th place with a team score of 298 (+10).
Senior Mateo Payan led the way for NM State, carding an even-par 72 to finish the day in a tie for 22nd.
Javier Delgadillo followed closely behind, shooting a 73 (+1) to land in a tie for 30th.
Ethan Klose posted a 75 (+3), placing him in a tie for 50th, while
Bryant Hernandez and
Max Chan each recorded rounds of 78 (+6), both finishing in a tie for 79th.
The Aggies will look to climb the leaderboard in Tuesday's second round as they continue play at the challenging Bayonet course. The Aggies will begin their second day of action on the 10
th hole at 10:42 a.m. MT as they play alongside competitors from CUSA foe Sam Houston, Austin Peay and UT Arlington. Chan and Hernandez will go off in the first Aggie grouping, while Klose and Delgadillo will begin their day at 10:54 a.m. and Payán is set to tee off at 11:06 a.m.
