DALLAS – Amid a standout first season at NM State, tight end
Gavin Harris has earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Academic Team, following a vote of the league's 12 senior academic advisors. The 2025 CUSA All-Academic Team is made up of 11 student-athletes from 10 programs. In order to qualify, nominees must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore and be a starter or key reserve on their respective team. Currently, Harris is majoring in individualized studies and is maintaining a 3.79 GPA.
In his debut year with the program,
Gavin Harris has become one of the Aggies' top offensive threats and is among the best pass-catching tight ends in the nation. With two games remaining, the junior from San Antonio ranks sixth in receiving yards per game among all tight ends at the FBS level, averaging 47.3 yards. With this, Harris is tops in receiving yards per game among Conference USA tight ends and ranks 14
th among all CUSA receivers.
This year, Harris has logged at least three catches in nine of the Aggies' 10 games – a feat he accomplished just twice during his two-year collegiate career prior to joining the NM State team. Among Aggies, Harris ranks second in receptions (33) and receiving yards (473), while pacing the team in yards per catch (14.3).
Harris becomes the second player in program history to garner this award, joining
Canaan Yarro who was named to the all-academic team in both 2023 and 2024.
