Barker’s Perfect Day Leads to CUSA Special Teams Player of the Week Honors

| By:

Barker made career-high two field goals in Aggies’ win over UTEP.

DALLAS – Following an exciting come-from-behind win over rival UTEP in the Battle of I-10, NM State place kicker David Barker was named the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week. Barker's day included going 2-2 on field goal attempts in addition to making all four of his extra point tries.

The true freshman from Brisbane, Australia, split the uprights twice, giving the Aggies the lead in the second half each time. This included a 46-yard field goal that gave the Aggies a 24-21 lead after trailing 21-0 to start the game. This 46-yarder marked the longest by any CUSA kicker across the week 12 contest. His two field goals were also tied for the most by any kicker in the league last week.

His performance saw him finish the game responsible for 10 points to tie for the most by any CUSA kicker over the weekend. With this award, Barker becomes the second Aggie kicker to claim special teams player of the week honors after Ryan Hawk also received the honor after helping lead the Aggies to a win over Sam Houston on Oct. 2.
