ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Despite recording its best score of the tournament, the Aggie men's golf team finished 18
th among a deep field, which included nine programs which participated in the 2024-25 NCAA Regionals. For the weekend, the Aggies posted a combined score of 875 (+11) to finish one stroke back of Rice. The team title ultimately went to Long Beach State, which shot an 841 (-23) to end the weekend five strokes clear of the rest of the field.
Individually, the Aggies were paced by Mateo Payan for the second consecutive week after the sophomore recorded a 71 (-1) to leap 21 spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for 27
th – shooting one-under for the tournament. His Saturday round included five birdies and nine pars.
Javier Delgadillo finished just two strokes behind Payan to wrap up the event in a tie for 48
th among the 100-man field.
Vari Mariscal placed in a tie for 79
th (+7),
Ethan Klose finished in a tie for 88
th (+10) and
Anthony Lara concluded the week in 97
th (+13).
On the week, NM State submitted 47 birdies as a team, led Mateo Payan,
Javier Delgadillo and
Ethan Klose who each tallied 11 birdies across 54 holes.
