Aggies Blow Past Lobos on Senior Day

NM State collects ninth straight dual win over in-state rival.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State continued its impressive season on Saturday afternoon as it earned a dominant win over rival New Mexico at the Las Cruces Natatorium. With wins in all 18 events, the Aggies battled to a 237-91 win over the Lobos.
 
This marks the program's ninth consecutive victory over its in-state rival with its last dual loss to the Lobos coming in 2020. On Saturday, the Aggies won all 18 events and earned a total of 40 podium finishes.

Additionally, the Aggies recognized seniors Kira Brownell, Estel Galo, Dreamer Kowatch, Thea Masselink, Faye McDonagh, Megan Ono, Jamie Puhalski, Katie Rink and Naomi Slee.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Aggies swept the podium in the 50 breast, 50 fly, 200 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly, and 500 free.
  • Faye McDonagh's time of 56.53 in the 100 IM marks a new program record.
  • Dijana Mazumdar's time of 1:48.46 in the 200 free serves as the second fastest time in the MPSF this season.
  • Addison Pastiak qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones with her performance in the platform event.
  • Thea Masselink's time of 26.13 in the 50 back is the fastest by any Aggie this year. Her time of 55.47 in the 100 back is also the quickest Aggie time this season.
UP NEXT
NM State will now prepare for the upcoming MPSF Championships which are set to take place on Feb. 25-28 in Pharr, Texas, at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium.
