NM State 2, Texas A&M Corpus Christi 4
NM State opened play at the H-E-B Invitational today, falling 4–2 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
The Islanders claimed the early momentum by securing the doubles point. Victories on courts one and three gave Texas A&M-Corpus Christi the advantage, while the match on court two went unfinished with the Aggies trailing 6-6 (4-2).
NM State responded with a pair of strong performances in singles play to keep the match competitive. Holland Snell delivered a straight-set victory on court one, earning a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) win over Omar Suarez. Tobias Wallin followed with a resilient three-set comeback on court three, bouncing back after dropping the opening set to defeat Ethan Dasset 6-7 (1-7), 6-3, 6-3.
Despite those efforts, the Islanders secured the remaining completed singles matches to clinch the team victory. Lance Urlaub fell in straight sets on court four, while Laurendi Fischer battled through three sets on court six before coming up short. The matchup on court two extended to a decisive third-set tiebreak, where Roko Stipetic narrowly missed out, and court five went unfinished with Matias Rojas leading in the third set when the overall result was decided.
