TEMPE, Ariz. - NM State closed out its stay at the Sun Devil Classic on Sunday afternoon with a rematch against tournament host No. 21 Arizona State. The Aggies came out swinging, scoring five runs across the first two innings and adding insurance late to secure a hard‑fought victory. The win also marked NM State's first victory over a ranked opponent since April 13, 2025, when the Aggies defeated Liberty.

The Aggies opened the contest with a three‑run first inning, highlighted by RBI swings from Skye Johnson and Kendal Lunar before adding two more in the second. Devin Elam delivered a statement performance at the plate, finishing with three hits, including a solo home run in the sixth, to help maintain NM State's lead. In the circle, Faith Aragon went the distance, striking out seven and holding ASU to just five hits as the Aggies secured the one‑run win.

NM State now turns its attention to its next road trip as the Aggies travel to San Antonio, Texas, for the UTSA Tournament. Beginning Friday, Feb. 27, NM State opens the event with a doubleheader, taking on Saint Francis followed by tournament host UTSA to kick off the three‑day weekend slate.
