NM State 3, Texas State 4
NM State battled until the final court but ultimately came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Texas State on Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex in San Marcos, Texas
The Aggies were unable to secure the doubles point, as Texas State claimed victories on courts one and three. Anna Klimova and Montana Parkinson-Lubold earned a 6-3 win at the No. 2 position to keep NM State in contention, but the Bobcats took the remaining two matches to grab the early advantage.
NM State responded with a strong showing in singles play, picking up three victories across the lineup. Nadia Nemeth earned a straight-set win at the No. 1 spot, defeating Emily Niers, while Whitney Moon delivered a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 2. Montana Parkinson-Lubold continued her solid afternoon with a three-set win at the No. 3 position, helping the Aggies pull even in the overall score
Despite the momentum, Texas State secured wins on courts four, five and six to clinch the match. Emma Petton pushed her match to a deciding third set at No. 4, but the Bobcats were able to edge out the final point to seal the contest.
The Aggies showed resilience throughout the afternoon, pushing the match to the wire against a strong Texas State squad on the road.
