LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State opened its final home series of the season Friday night at the NM State Softball Complex, hosting Delaware in a tightly contested Conference USA matchup. The Aggies capitalized on a strong second inning and received steady work in the circle to set the tone early. NM State held on down the stretch to claim a 3–1 victory in the series opener.
Game – NM State 3, Delaware 1
After Delaware scored first in the second, NM State answered immediately with a three‑run frame in the bottom half, highlighted by a three‑run home run from Johnna Aragon. From there, the Aggies relied on pitching and defense to protect the lead, limiting Delaware to just one run on the night. Faith Aragon worked through traffic late to close out the complete‑game effort.
