Biography
Junior (2013-14): Alcaraz ended with a 13-7 record in singles matches and a 6-11 record in doubles during her junior campaign. Alcaraz saw the most success at the No. 2 position with a 7-1 record and ended her singles season on a six game win streak. In her only singles match against WAC opponents, Alcaraz won in a three set match against University of Idaho, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 on Apr. 13. Alcaraz saw six straight wins twice during the spring season. In doubles play, Alcaraz partnered with Denise Van Der Ben most frequently ending with a 3-8 record. The duo won their first match on Feb. 8 against Riverside, 6-3. Alcarez earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Award for the first time.
Prior to NM State: Alcaraz worked her way to a stellar 20-1 record in singles play for the Northwood University Timberwolves. She played solely at the No. 1 spot and went 13-1 in conference play. She finished the season on an eight-match winning streak, but held her longest streak of 12 matches from Sept. 7-Oct. 14. Alcaraz won 18 of her matches in straight sets, taking only three matches all season to three games.
In doubles play, Alcaraz worked to a 22-1 record with partner Nastya Puchkina. The duo sailed to a perfect 22-0 record until the final match of the spring, when they it fell to second-ranked Armstrong. With the help of Alcaraz, the Timberwolves finished with a flawless 14-0 conference record and 21-2 overall on the season. The team was unbeaten at home and claimed a 5-2 victory over 42nd-ranked Grand Valley State.
