2011 (Senior): Ellis
was named to the 2011 All-Academic team in fall sports for the Western Athletic
Conference. Ellis competed in a majority
of the events for NM State during the 2011 season. Ellis posted his best time of the season in
the 8K at the Grand Canyon Invitational (Oct. 8) with a time of 25:55.7, which
was good for 10th place overall and second place for NM State. Ellis' effort at the Grand Canyon
Invitational helped NM State claim third place overall. Ellis also ran in the Lobo Invite, Lori
Fitzgerald Invite, Kachina Classic, Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree,
Pre-Nationals, and the WAC Championships.
2010 (Junior): After
red shirting the 2009 season, Ellis came back to be one of the Aggies top
runners in 2010. Ellis was a second team All-WAC performer after his 11th place
finish at the WAC Championships (Oct. 30), where he ran a 25:18. Ellis had his
best finish at the Kachina Classic (Sep. 18) after placing ninth in a time of
25:41.6. He competed in six of seven races for NM State with his fastest
overall time coming at the Paul Short Invite (Oct. 1) where he ran a 25:16.0.
2009 (Sophomore):
Ellis redshirted during the 2009 season.
2008 (Freshman):
Ellis competed in all seven races for the Aggies in 2008 and scored for the
Aggies in four of those races. Ellis' standout performance of the season
was at the WAC Championships (Nov. 1), in Las Cruces, N.M., when he ran No. 2
for the Aggies, placing 21st overall in a time of 27:09.80. At the
Arizona State Invitational, in Tempe, Ariz., Ellis assisted the team to a
first-place finish with his season best 14th-individual finish in a time of
26:52.0 in the 8k race. His speediest time of the season came at the
Santa Clara Invitational (Oct. 18) when he clocked a time of 25:52 and placed
47th as he led the Aggies across the finish line.
High School: Ellis
is a 2008 graduate of Redmond High School in Redmond, Wash., where he lettered
in cross country all four years and track and field for three. He was an
all-state cross country honoree twice, was a first team all-league selection in
cross country three times and was selected to the first team all-region cross
country team two times. During his junior season he was the league
champion in the 1,600-meter run, and was also a regional champion in the 1,600-meter
and 3,200-meter runs (9:21). As a senior, Ellis was regional champion in
the 1600-meter run and in the 800-meter run he recorded a time of 1:57. Ellis
was runner-up in the state 1600-meter run (4:14). He recorded his strongest
time in cross country during his senior season when he crossed the line in the
5,000-meter race in a time of 15:49.

the son of Harvey and Yvonne Ellis and is majoring in management.
