Biography
2009 (Junior) - Brackeen
competed in four races for NM State in 2009. In the season opener, the Lobo
Invitational (9/5), Brackeen clocked 28:37.2 for his best 8k of the season. His
best finish came at the Dual in the Desert (10/19), where he placed 11th
overall.
2008 (Sophomore): Brackeen
competed in four of the seven races for the Aggies in 2008. He recorded
his fastest time of the season at the Santa Clara Invitational (Oct. 18), when
he stopped the clock in a time of 27:27 in the 8k race. At the Arizona
State Invitational (Oct. 3), Brackeen registered his strongest finish of the
season, which was a 37th-place finish in a time of 28:16.6.
2007 (Freshman): Brackeen
competed in every race for the Aggies in 2007. He recorded a season-best
time at the Kachina Classic (Sept. 22), clocking a time of 25:28, while placing
30th overall. At the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational (Sept. 14), Brackeen
ran his way to a 24th-place finish in a time of 27:17, which marks his best
finish of the season.
High School:
Brackeen was a four-year varsity letter winner in cross country and a
three-year varsity letter winner in track & field at Central High School in
Chickasha, Okla. He was named as an all-state selection from 2004-06 and to the
Oklahoma/Arkansas all-star cross country team from 2004-06. In cross country,
Brackeen was the state runner-up from 2005-07 and in track and field he was the
state champion in the 3,200-meter race and was the runner up in the
1,600-merter run. In 2006 he placed 10th in the 5k race (15:57.92) at the AAU
National Championship meet in Orlando, Fla.
Personal:
Brackeen is the son of Jimmy and Tarmara Brackeen. He is pursuing a degree in
criminal justice.
