2009 Outdoor (Sophomore): Gutierrez did not compete in the outdoor season.
Cross Country: Gutierrez was consistently one of NM State's top runners last season. Not only did she lead the Aggies in three races, but she also recorded six top 8 performances along with earning first team All-WAC accolades after placing fourth at the WAC Championships in Las Cruces, N.M., with a time of 18:36.30. Gutierrez led the Aggies to a first-place team finish at the Arizona State Invitational, in Tempe, Ariz. (Oct. 3), after pacing the Aggies across the finish line with a second-place finish in a time of 18:21.9 in the 5k race. Her fastest time of the season came at the Santa Clara Invitational (Oct. 18), when Gutierrez recorded a time of 17:34, which was good for fifth place in the 5k race.
2008 Outdoor (Freshman): Gutierrez competed in the distance events for the Aggies during the outdoor season. Her season was highlighted with a second-place finish at the WAC Championships (May 15-17) in the 5,000-meter run when she crossed the line in a time of 17:56.47, which is a 41-second personal-best. This time also placed her seventh on the NM State all-time record list. Gutierrez recorded a season-best time in the 1500-meter run at the Don Kirby Memorial Invitational (May 3) when she crossed the finish line in a time of 4:45.92.
Indoor: Did not compete during the indoor season.
Cross Country: Gutierrez paced the Aggies in five of the seven races last season, including leading the Crimson and White women across the line at the NCAA Mountain Regional Champions. She recorded her fastest time of the season at the WAC Championships (Oct. 27), when she finished the 5K race with a time of 17:39, which was good enough for 17th place. Another strong performance was at the Santa Clara Invitational (Oct. 13), as she stopped the clock at 18:24 and placed 47th in the 5K race. Gutierrez also tallied her best mark of the season at the Kachina Classic (Sept. 22), as she led the team to back-to-back titles with a first-place finish and recorded a time of 19:00. At the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships, Gutierrez clocked a time of 22:34, which placed her 56th overall.
High School: Gutierrez was 2007 graduate from Horizon High School where she earned four letters in cross country and track & field. In cross country, Gutierrez was a four-time regional qualifier, a four-time state qualifier and voted Most Valuable Runner her senior year. In track & field, she was a four-time regional qualifier, a two-time national qualifier, a national medalist and a state qualifier.
Personal: Gutierrez is the daughter of Jose and Thela Gutierrez and is pursuing a degree in chemistry.
