2012 Outdoor (Junior):
Schultz red-shirted for the 2012 outdoor season.
2012 Indoor (Junior): Schultz
was named to the first team all-WAC for the 5,000m and second team all-WAC for
the 3,000m. Schultz was named to the
academic all-WAC team in 2012. Schultz competed
in four events for the Aggies during the 2012 indoor season, compting in the
3,000m and the 5,000m for most of the events.
Schultz posted her best finish for the 3,000m at the WAC Indoor
Championships (Feb. 23) with a time of 10:05.30. For the 5,000m, Schultz posted her
season-best time of 17:03.44 at the Washington Husky Classic (Feb. 10), which
places her second all-time in the NM State record books. Schultz also ran the 1,000m at the Texas Tech
Open (Jan. 13), posting a time of 3:03.00, placing her second all-time in NM
State history in this event as well.
Schultz also ran the 1-mile at the Texas Tech Open, posting a time of
5:07.04, placing her fourth all-time for NM State.
Cross Country 2011 (Junior): Schultz
was named to the 1st Team All-Conference for a third-straight season. Schultz also received All-Academic Honors for
the WAC in 2011. Schultz put together a
fantastic season in 2011, finishing in first or second place for NM State in
every event she ran. Schultz's
season-best time and finish came at the Kachina Classic (Sept. 17) when she
finished first for NM State and third overall with a time of 17:28.5 in the
6K. Schultz also performed well at the
WAC Championships (Oct. 29), finishing third overall with a time of
18:19.7. Schultz also ran strong at the
NCAA Mountain Region Championships (Nov 12), finishing second for NM State and
28th overall with a time of 21:53.9 in the 6K.
One of Schultz's most impressive performances came at the Pre-Nationals
(Oct. 16) when she placed 31st overall with a time of 21:36 in the 6K. Schultz also ran strong in the Lobo
Invitational (Sept. 3), placing fifth overall and second for NM State with a
time of 18:18.6 in the 5K and at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree (Oct. 1) by
placing 12th overall and second for NM State with a time of 17:43.4.
Outdoor 2011 (Sophomore): Schultz
ran various long-distance events in the outdoor season as well, ranging from
the 1,500m to the 10,000m. Due to her performance during the regular
season, Schultz was eligible for the NCAA Division I West Preliminary Round,
posting a time of 35:24.46 in the 10,000m. Schultz's best time for the
10,000m came at the 53rd Annual Mt. SAC Relays with a time of 34:42.06.
Schultz also ran the 5,000m, posting a season-best time of 16:42.48 at the
Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational.
Indoor 2011 (Sophomore): Schultz
ran a variety of long-distance events during the 2011 indoor track
season. Schultz ran the 5,000m, posting her best time of 17:10.60 at the
Washington Husky Classic. Schultz also ran the 3,000m, posting her best
time of 10:14.51 at the WAC Championships.
Cross Country 2010 (Sophomore): Schultz
ran in all but one of the events for NM State during the cross country season,
including the WAC Championships. Schultz made her mark at the WAC
Championships by placing second overall and second for NM State with a time of
17:37.35, giving her the title of 1st Team All-Conference for a second-straight
season. Schultz was less than a second behind sister Courtney for first
place. Schultz started off the season by finishing 10th overall and
second for NM State at the 2010 Lobo Invite with a time of 17:51.1.
Schultz made even bigger strides the following event when she placed fourth
overall and first for NM State at the Kachina Classic with a time of
17:32.7. One of Schultz's best performances came at the 2010 Paul Short
Invitational when she placed 40th overall and second for NM State with a time
of 21:23, beating over 350 athletes from some of the premiere schools from the
East coast. Schultz was eligible to compete in Pre-Nationals, posting a
time of 21:31.4, which was good for 66th overall.
Outdoor 2010 (Freshman): Schultz
was named first team All-WAC for her performance in the 5,000m at the WAC
Championships. She ran a 17:24.17, which was good enough for third on the
NM State all-time record list. Schultz also competed in the 1,500m with
her best time of 4:41.31 coming at the UNM Don Kirby Invite.
Indoor 2010 (Freshman): Schultz
was named first-team All-WAC in the 5,000m after she placed second overall at
the WAC Championships with a time of 17:28.92. Schultz's fastest 5,000m
time came at the New Mexico Classic where she finished in a time of 17:40.85,
which was good enough for second place on the NM State all-time list.
Schultz also participated in the 3,000m run during the indoor season. Her
fastest time in the 3,000m came at the New Mexico Invitational where she
finished in a time of 10:10.70, which was good enough for third place on the
Aggie all-time list. Schultz also competed in the mile run for the Aggies
with her fastest time of 5:19.19 coming at the Lobo Challenge.
Cross Country 2009 (Freshman): Schultz
was named first-team All-WAC last season after she placed second at the WAC
Championships, only second behind sister Courtney. Schultz clocked in
with a time of 19:12 in the women's 5K while her sister Courtney finished in
19:11. Her fastest time of the season in a 5K race came at the Bronco
Invitational, when she finished with a time of 17:29. Schultz ran in six
races for NM State during the season.
Prior to NM State:
Before coming to NM State, Shultz was a member of the Oklahoma State cross
country team during the 2008 season.
High School: Schultz
is a 2008 graduate of Cloudcroft High School in Cloudcroft, N.M., where she was
a two-time letter winner in cross country and track and field. Schultz helped
her track and field team to back-to-back district and state championships in
2007 and 2008. The Bears were district champions in cross country those years
as well. Schultz is the current state record holder in the 1,600-meter medley
relay. She was a runner-up in the 1,600 and the 3,200-meter runs during her
senior season and was an all-star cross country runner in 2008.
Personal: Schultz is
the daughter of Rebecca Phillips and is majoring in nursing.
