Biography
2013 Cross Country: In his debut year for the Aggies, Bekes ran in six meets, two of which were the Western Athletic Conference Championship and the NCAA Mountain Region competitions. Bekes opened the season with a ninth place finish in the four-mile Texas Tech-NM State dual with a time of 22:32.2. His ninth place finish was his best on the season and reached it once more during the second meet of the season at the 2013 Kachina Classic 5K with a time of 17:18.0. ?Bekes’ best finish in 8K competitions came at the Rim Rock Farm Collegiate Classic as he posted a 22nd place finish and recorded a time of 26:19.5.?
University of Northern Colorado: Bekes competed in cross country for two season for the University of Northern Colorado Bears. During his sophomore season, Bekes paced the team in four straight races, including finishing first for the Bears at the 2012 NCAA Mountain Regional.
High School: Bekes ran cross country and track & field for the Bobcats of Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, N.M. He was named team captain of the cross country team from 2006-10. In 2008, the Bobcats were runner-ups to the 3A Cross Country Championship. Bekes helped his team win the state championship in 2009. In track & field, Bekes focused on distance events and helped his team to four district championships from 2007-10.
Personal: Bekes is the son of Michael and Tammy Bekes and was born in Las Cruces, N.M. He is majoring in individualized studies.
