2011 (Junior): Ruybalid
had a good season for NM State in 2011, finishing in the top five for NM State
in six different events. Ruybalid posted
his best time for the 8K at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree (Oct. 1) with a
time of 25:17.65, good for second place for NM State and 63rd overall. Ruybalid posted his best overall finish at
the Kachina Classic (Sept. 17) when he finished second for NM State and third
overall with a time of 25:46.5. Ruybalid
performed strong at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships (Nov. 12) in the
10K, finishing third for NM State and 58th overall with a time of 32:19.5. Ruybalid also finished in the top five for NM
State at the Lobo Invitational (Sept. 3) and the Pre-Nationals (Oct. 16).
2010 (Junior):
Ruybalid was granted a medical redshirt his junior year.
2009 (Sophomore):
Ruybalid finished the 2009 season as one of the Aggies top runners. He led the
Aggies in four races in 2009, including the Western Athletic Championship
(10/31), where he placed ninth, overall. He finished the conference race in 26
minutes and 42.8 seconds, earning second team All-WAC for the second
consecutive year. He is the only Aggie to boast this honor since NM State
joined the WAC in 2005. As a team, NM State earned a fourth-place finish at
conference, which was a four spot improvement from the 2008 championships.
Ruybalid earned his season best finish in an 8k race at the Bronco Invitational
(10/17) in Sunnyvale, Calif., with a time of 25:19 and earned his best finish
of the season in eighth place at the NM State's home race, the Kachina Classic
(9/19). His finish at the Kachina Classic helped the Aggies to a third-place
finish overall.
2008 (Freshman):
Ruybalid led the Aggies in five of the seven races in 2008 and ran second in
the last two. He recorded five top 16 finishes throughout season,
including pacing the Aggies across the line with a 14th-place finish at the WAC
Championship, in Las Cruces, N.M., with a time of 26:35.0. This feat
earned him second team All-WAC status. Ruybalid recorded a season-best
14th place finish at the Arizona State Invitation (Oct. 3), while leading the
Aggies to a first-place team finish with a time of 26:32.1. At the Santa
Clara Invitational (Oct. 18), in Santa Clara, Calif., Ruybalid recorded his
fastest time of the season when he stopped the clock at 26:04, which placed him
58th overall.
High School:
Ruybalid is a 2008 graduate from Los Lunas High School, in Los Lunas, N.M.,
where he lettered in cross country for four seasons. As a senior,
Ruybalid led the Tigers to a District 5-5A Championship after the team placed
third at the district meet both his sophomore and junior seasons. He was
an all-district runner both as a junior and senior and was an all-state
selection his senior season after placing fourth at the state
championships. Ruybalid also competed in track and field during his
senior season and was a state qualifier in the two-mile run (9:54) and the mile
run (4:36).

is the son of Jay and Christine Ruybalid. He is majoring in kinesiology.
