Biography

2009 Outdoor (Freshman): Payne primarily competed in the hurdles and short sprints for the Aggies during the 2009 season. At the New Mexico Invitational (Jan. 24) in Albuquerque, N.M., Payne recorded a season-best time in the 100-meter hurdles after crossing the line at 15.11, a time that ranks her seventh on NM State's all-time list.  At the Don Kirby Invitational (May 2), Payne clocked a season-best time of 1:05.9 in the 400-meter hurdles, which places her 10th on the NM State all-time list. Payne also competed in the 400-meter and the 4x400-meter relay in 2009.

Cross Country: Payne ran in all seven races for the Aggies last season.  Her best finish was at the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational (Sept. 12), when she crossed the line in 19th place, in a time of 19:39.33 in just short of a 5k race.  At the Santa Clara Invitational (Oct. 18), in Santa Clara, Calif., Payne recorded her fastest 5k time of the season as she stopped the watch in a time of 20:39.

High School: Payne is a 2008 graduate of Eastwood High School in El Paso, Texas, where she lettered in track and field and cross country all four years.  Payne was a top hurdler, sprinter and cross country runner throughout her high school campaign.  She was also apart of all three relays, which swept the competition at almost every meet throughout the season.
