Biography
2012 (Senior): Palmer
saved his best performances of the season for the end of the season when he
finished will at the WAC Championships and the NCAA Mountain Region
Championships. Palmer finished first for
NM State and 67th overall at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships (Nov. 9)
with a time of 32:10.7 in the 10K. In
the WAC Championships, Palmer finished seventh for NM State and 30th overall
with a time of 25:24.21 in the 8K.
Palmer also ran at the Lobo Invitational (Aug. 31), the Kachina Classic
(Sept. 15), the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational (Sept. 7), the Grand Canyon
Invitational (Oct. 6) and the Bronco Invitational (Oct. 13)
2011 (Junior): Palmer
was named as the Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for his
performance at the Grand Canyon Invitational (Oct. 8). Palmer also
received two other conference honors, being named to the All-Academic team for
the Western Athletic Conference and 2nd-Team All-Conference. Palmer
placed eighth overall and first for NM State with a season-best time of 25:49.7
in the 8K. Palmer competed strong throughout the entire season,
participating in every event for NM State. Palmer placed particularly
well towards the end of the season in the Western Athletic Conference
Championships (Oct. 29) and the NCAA Mountain Region Championships (Nov. 12).
Palmer placed fourth for NM State and 11th overall with a time of 26:08.6 in
the 8K at the WAC Championships and first for NM State and 36th overall with a
time of 31:34.5 in the 10K at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships.
2010 (Sophomore):
Palmer was the Aggies standout runner for 2010 after redshirting in 2009.
Palmer placed seventh at the WAC Championships (Oct. 30) with a time of 25:10
and was named first team All-WAC. Palmer ran in six of NM State's seven meets
and was the Aggies top finisher in three of them. Palmer had strong finishes at
the NCAA Mt. Regional (52nd-31: 27.9), and the Pre-National Meet
(105th-25:05.2), which was his fastest time of the year.
2009 (Freshman):
Palmer redshirted during the 2009 season.
High School: Palmer
was a four-year letter winner in cross-country for Eldorado High School in
Albuquerque, N.M. He was an individual state champion in 2007. He helped his
2008 cross-country team to a third-place finish, and fourth in 2005. He was
named to the all-harrier team in 2008. On the track, Palmer was a three-time
letter winner. He was a state runner-up in the 3,200-meter during his senior
season and had a personal best time of 9:38.28 in that event.
Personal: Palmer is
the son of Douglas and Jo Ann Palmer and was born in Dayton, Ohio. He plans to
major in mechanical engineering.
