Biography
2011 (Junior): Selph received
two conference honors, being named to the All-Academic team and 2nd-Team
All-Conference for the Western Athletic Conference. Selph produced one of his best performances
of the season at the Western Athletic Conference Championships, earning third
for NM State and 10th overall with a time of 26:08.6 in the 8K. Selph also finished third for NM State in two
other events. Selph finished third for
NM State and ninth overall at the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational (Sept. 10) and
third at the Pre-Nationals (Oct. 16).
Selph posted a time of 25:48 at the Pre-Nationals, which was a
season-best time for Selph in the 8K.
2010 (Sophomore):
Selph was one of NM State's strongest runners in 2010. Selph ran in six of the
Aggies seven meets in 2010 including a 16th place 25:34 at the WAC
Championships (Oct. 30). 16th was only two spots shy of earning All-WAC honors.
Selph also had solid showings at the Kachina Classic (Sep. 18), where he placed
eighth with a time of 25:33.1 and the NCAA Mt. Regional (Nov. 13), where he
finished 73rd in a time of 32:12.0. Selph had his fastest time of the year at
the Paul Short Invite (Oct. 1) after running a 25:18 and placing 117th at one
of the largest meets in the nation.
2009 (Freshman):
Selph was a consistent scorer for NM State, scoring in all seven events he
competed in. He was the first Aggie to finish at the Santa Clara Bronco
Invitational (10/17) in Santa Clara, Calif., with a time of 25:12. At the 2009
WAC Championships, Selph placed 17th overall and was the third from NM State to
finish the 8k race. At the Aggies home meet, the Kachina Classic (9/19), he was
the fourth Aggie across the line and 20th overall. His best finish of the
season was at the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational hosted by UTEP in Santa Teresa,
N.M., where he as seventh overall to finish.
High School: Selph
is a 2009 graduate of Rio Rancho High School in Rio Rancho, N.M., where he led
the Rams to a second-place district finish in 2006 in cross country. Selph
holds the school record in the 3,200-meter run and was an individual district
champion in 2008. He helped the Rams to a third-place finish in district in
2007 and was an all-state selection. The Rams placed fourth in state in 2006
and third in 2007.
Personal: Selph is
the son of Daniel and Cindy Selph and was born in Fort Hood, Texas. He plans to
major in civil engineering.
