Biography
2011 (Junior): Fenton
was listed as an All-Academic athlete for the Western Athletic Conference in
2011. Fenton ran in six events for NM
State during the 2011 season. Fenton
posted his best finish for NM State at the Grand Canyon Invitational (Oct. 8)
when he finished third for NM State and 15th overall with a time of 26:03.2 in
the 8K. Fenton produced his best overall
finish at the Kachina Classic (Sept. 17) when he placed fifth for NM State and
10th overall with a time of 26:20.0.
Overall, Fenton finished in the top five for NM State in four different
events throughout the season.
2010 (Sophomore):
Fenton competed in three races for the Aggies during the 2010 season, with his
best time and finish coming at NM State's home meet the Kachina Classic (Sep.
18). Fenton completed the race in 26:05.7 and placed 16th. Fenton also had
solid finishes at the Lobo Invite (Sep. 4), where he finished 31st in a time of
26:07.4, and the WAC Championships (Oct. 30), where he placed 30th with a time
of 26:20.
2009 (Freshman):
Fenton was a strong competitor for the Aggies in 2009, leading NM State in the
first two races of the season and scoring in six. He led the Aggies in his
debut appearance at the Lobo Invitational (9/5), with a 12th-place finish,
overall. He led the Aggie men a week later as well, in the Lori Fitzgerald
Invitational (9/10), finishing fifth and helping the team to a second-place
finish. At the 2009 edition of the WAC Championships in Boise, Idaho (10/31),
Fenton crossed the line in 22nd and helped the Aggies to fourth place as a
team. This is the best finish the Aggie men have earned since joining the WAC
in 2005. He produced his best time of 25:25 at the Santa Clara Bronco
Invitational (10/17) in Santa Clara, Calif. His time helped the Aggies to place
seventh overall.
High School: Fenton
was the 2007 track & field individual state champion in the 1,600-meter run
while at Hope Christian School in Albuquerque, N.M. He helped the Huskies to a
second-place finish at state in 2007 and won the title in 2008. Fenton was an
all-state selection for three consecutive years and placed second in the state
meet in the two-mile run as a junior. In cross-country, Fenton was an
all-district selection every year and received all-state honors for three
seasons. He was also a member of the state champion soccer team in 2007.
Personal: Fenton is
the son of Mark Fenton and was born in Santa Fe, N.M. He plans to major in
engineering and business administration.
