Biography

2009-10: Bertrand saw action in Reining for NM State in 2009-10, compiling a 6-5 overall record. She started the season with a 4-2 record earning wins against Oklahoma State (10/10), TCU (10/24), Tennessee-Martin (10/31) and Baylor (11/20). She would also tally wins against Georgia (2/16) and Delaware State (3/27). At the Varsity Equestrian National Championships (4/15), Bertrand earned one of two points for the Aggies in the reining competition, defeating Annie Laurie McDonald of South Carolina. Bertrand competed in the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) National Youth Reining Championships (19-21 division) during the 2010 summer (held in Oklahoma City, Okla). She tied for the Reserve Championship aboard Stoned Chic, scoring an impressive 142.5. She also won the Smartpak North American Young Rider Reining Championship Selection Trial and represented the United States at the Championship July 28-Aug 1, in Lexington, Ky, where they placed second. Bertrand was named Outstanding Junior for the Western squad at the team awards banquet.

2008-09:  During Bertrand's second year of competition, she earned wins against Baylor and Texas Tech. She  competed in the Reining for the Aggies at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Waco, Texas.

2007-08: Bertrand earned a record of 3-3-1 in Reining. She earned points for her team against Texas A&M and Fresno State. Bertrand's high score of the season was a 74 against Baylor, tying the match. She competed at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Reining. She was named Western Rookie of the Year at the team's awards banquet. 

High School: Bertrand graduated from Centennial High School in Las Vegas, Nev. She was the Nevada State 4-H Ambassador for Clark County.  . Bertrand started competing in Reining in 2001. In 2005, she earned an AQHA Region 7 Championship in Novice Youth Reining. She was ranked in the Top 20 in the USEF Reining standings for three years.

Personal: Bertrand was born in Las Vegas, Nev., and is the daughter of Mark and Kathie Salera. She is majoring in animal science and earning a minor in the horse management program. Bertrand currently trains with Eric Coons of Let N Go Performance Horses.
