Biography
2014 (Junior)Competed in Reining… Earned a 6-5 record… Twice named United Equestrian Conference Reining Rider of the Month… Won both points at United Equestrian Conference Championship Tournament… Competed at National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championship Tournament… Named NM State Equestrian Most Improved Player.
2013-14: Newkirk competed for the Reining squad during the 2013-2014 season. Newkirk competed in 11 meets and earned one Most Outstanding Player title during the season. Newkirk’s MOP came against Sacred Heart (11/2), winning by 7.5 against her opponent and scoring a 72.0. Newkirk competed in the NCEA tournament for the Aggies, losing to her opponent by a 1.0. On the season, Newkirk totaled a 3-7-1 record, with wins coming over Baylor (9/27), Sacred Heart (11/2), and TCU (11/8).
2012-13: In her rookie season Newkirk competed in the Reining for the Aggies, earning three wins against Ohio State (9/22), Baylor (2/2) and West Texas A&M (10/13). Her season high score of 75.5 against Baylor’s Katherine Berg earned her the MOP award.
High School: Newkirk graduated from Porterville High School and was a three-year scholar athlete while serving as co-captain of the Porterville water polo team. In 2010, Newkirk was the Valley Cow Horse Association Reserve High Point Youth Limited Champion, while claiming multiple wins in National Reined Cow Horse Association events throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona.
Personal: Newkirk is from Porterville, California and is the daughter of Monty and Dana Newkirk. She is majoring in education at NM State. She currently trains with Russell Dilday.
