Biography

2007-08: Kate had a stellar record during the 2007-2008 season. She earned a record of 4-0 in reining and 3-1 in horsemanship and only competed during the fall semester. Kate also earned 2 MVP honors against Texas A&M and SFA. Kate was also voted team captain at the Year End awards banquet.
2006-07: During Kate’s second year in Varsity Equestrian, she proved to be one of the top horsemanship riders on the team. Kate had a record of 5-2-2. In the reining, Kate earned a record of 2-6-1 and was awarded 3 MVP honors. She also helped to lead the team to a 3rd place finish at the Varsity National Championships with an outstanding record of 3-1 in the horsemanship and 3-1 in the reining. Kate was also named the “Most Valuable Rider” at the Year End awards banquet.
2005-2006: Kate was on the 2nd place finishing team at the Big 8 Western Tournament at Texas A&M University where she rode in the horsemanship class. She was part of the 5th place Western Team at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Albuquerque, NM where she rode both in the reining and horsemanship classes. The team took 6th place overall out of the 12 teams competing.
I.H.S.A. ? Kate earned a total of 32 points in Advanced Horsemanship. She was chosen to ride for the team at the Zone show as well as Nationals so she was not allowed to point out and qualify as an individual for Regionals. She placed 3rd at Nationals in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to help the team to its 4th place overall finish.
High School: Kate was a part of the 2001 district runner-up track and field team from Coronado High School.  She was also a member of the basketball team for the Thunderbirds whom were the district runners-up in 2003-04.  While participating in track and field, she set the high school record in the 300-meter hurdles and helped set the El Paso City record in the 3200-meter relay. Chesley earned two letters in basketball and lettered three times in track and field.
Personal: Kate was born in Bismarck, N.D., and is the daughter of David and Jan Chesley.  She is majoring in Education and wants to become a teacher and a coach.
Riding History: Kate has been riding for over 13 years; competing in many AQHA and IAHA shows. She was in the Top 10 at the Texas Classic in Dallas in 2000 and 2003 in Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure and Horsemanship.
