2011 (Junior): LaVoy started at middle linebacker for the Aggies in 2011, playing nine games, missing four games due to injury. He recorded 36 tackles on the season, including 1.5 tackles for a loss. LaVoy collected a season-high eight tackles in his first career start as an Aggie against Ohio (Sept. 3). He mirrored that effort in the Aggies first ever win over a Big Ten opponent at Minnesota (Sept. 10) with eight tackles. He then recorded five tackles against UTEP (Sept. 17) and San Jose State (Sept. 24) before missing the next four games. He returned against Georgia (Nov. 5) and had four tackles and a tackle for a loss. LaVoy wrapped up the 2011 season with four tackles versus Utah State (Dec. 3).
Butte C.C.: LaVoy played two seasons at Butte Community College as a starting linebacker. In 2010, LaVoy helped his team to a 9-2 record, winning the 2010 ASBG Bowl Championship. He was named MVP of the ASBG Bowl as well. LaVoy led Butte in tackles in 2010 with 90, including nine tackles for a loss and three sacks. He also tallied four pass break-ups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. LaVoy was named a first team All-NorCal selection in 2010. As a freshman, in 2009, LaVoy recorded 37 tackles, which was good for fifth on the team. He had six tackles for a loss, three sacks and two fumble recoveries.
High School: LaVoy was a three-year starter at linebacker for Lancer High School. In his senior season, LaVoy helped his team to a league and regional championship, making the state championship game, as his team went 13-2 overall. He tallied 163 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions as a senior. He was named an all-state, all-region and all-league selection. He also earned Northern Player of the Year honors, while leading the state in tackles.
Personal: LaVoy is the son of John and Anne LaVoy. He plans to major in business.
