Biography

2010 (Junior): McGaskey started all 12 games at tackle for the Aggies in 2010. He helped the Aggies rush for 1,526 yards and eight touchdowns, while the NM State passing game threw for 2,009 yards and nine touchdowns. He blocked for Matt Christian who led the team with 1,372 yards passing and eight touchdowns, while blocking for the team's leading rusher in Kenny Turner, who recorded 461 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. On the season, McGaskey led the team with 75 knockdowns, while allowing five sacks and committing just one penalty. In the Aggies' win over in-state rival New Mexico (Oct. 9), McGaskey tallied a season-high 10 knockdowns. He then recorded nine knockdowns against San Jose State (Oct. 30), UTEP (Sept. 18), No. 3 Boise State (Oct. 1) and LA Tech (Nov. 13). McGaskey helped block for running back Robert Clay as he recorded the Aggies' only 100-yard rushing game of the season versus LA Tech.

Blinn College: McGaskey played offensive tackle for the 2009 National Champion Blinn College Buccaneers. In 2009, McGaskey helped the Buccaneers win the national championship over Fort Scott, 31-26, in the Citizen's Bank Bowl, completing an outstanding year where Blinn College went 11-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play. McGaskey also helped the Buccaneers win the SWJFC Championship over Navarro, 45-34. He was part of an offense that averaged 447.6 yards a game, rushing for 193.8 yards on the ground and 254 yards in the air. As a junior, McGaskey helped the Buccaneers win the SWJFC Championship over Navarro, 49-24, as Blinn tallied a 9-1 overall record and a 5-1 conference mark. McGaskey and the Buccaneer offense averaged 492 yards of total offense in 2008, 201.5 yards rushing and 290.5 yards passing.

University of Texas: McGaskey appeared in 11 games at tackle and on special teams. He helped Texas average 42.4 points (fifth NCAA), 475.8 total yards (ninth NCAA), 308.3 passing yards (seventh NCAA) and 167.4 rushing yards (41st NCAA) per game. Texas' 4,008 passing yards set the school record, while its 551 points and 6,185 total yards rank second on UT's single-season list. He helped Texas score at least 42 points in eight of 13 games. UT posted at least 400 yards of total offense in 12 of 13 games, at least 500 yards in five games and posted a 600-yard game against Rice. He helped UT rush and pass for at least 200 yards in five of 13 games, leading the Horns to a No. 3 national ranking on third down, converting 95-of-173 (54.9%). McGaskey helped Texas finish 16th nationally in red zone offense, converting on 61-of-68 red-zone possessions (89.7%, 52 TDs/nine FGs). He redshirted in 2007.

High School: McGaskey was a prep All-American and two-time all-district 23-4A selection. He competed in five different sports while in high school and played in the 2007 East Meets West All-American game. McGaskey helped La Marque to a 54-5 record and two 4A Division II State Championships during his four-year career, playing left guard and right tackle on the 2006 Texas 4A Division II State Championship team (15-1) as a senior. He earned second-team 4A all-state honors from the Texas Sports Writers Association and was named first-team all-district 23-4A and first-team All-Greater Houston. McGaskey was a preseason member of Dave Campbell's Super Team and tallied 48 pancakes while helping La Marque score 31.1 points per game, rush for 205 yards per game and total 356 yards per game. He helped La Marque to a 12-1 record and a berth in the state quarterfinals as a junior and was named all-district 23-4A. McGaskey earned two letters in track and field and a letter for powerlifting and was also a member of the basketball and wrestling teams. He notched personal bests of 51-0 in the shot put and 145-0 in the discus and set a personal best by lifting a combined weight of 1,100 lbs. in the bench, squat and dead lift as a powerlifter.

Personal: McGaskey is the son of Jackie McGaskey. He plans to major in individualized studies while at NM State.
