Biography

2008 (Junior): Buckner played in 11 games for the Aggies in 2008 after making the jump from wide receiver to defensive back. He played both in the defensive backfield and on special teams. On the season, Buckner tallied five tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup. Versus Boise State (11/1), he recorded a season-high three tackles. He tallied one tackle against New Mexico (9/27) and San Jose State (10/18).

 

2007 (Sophomore): He played in all 13 games for the Aggies at wide receiver in 2007. He recorded 21 receptions on the season for 208 yards, averaging 9.9 yards per reception. Against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (9/29), Buckner tallied a career-high seven receptions and a career-high in yardage (68). He then recorded four catches for 41 yards against Idaho (10/20) and three receptions against both Nevada (11/2) and San Jose State (11/10). Versus Louisiana Tech (10/13), Buckner also recorded the longest receptions of his career, a 23-yard pass from J.J. McDermott.

 

2006 (Freshman): Buckner played in 11 games, starting three at wide receiver for the Aggies.  He caught 23 passes for 151 yards and averaged 13.7 yards per game.  Against Southeastern Louisiana (8/31), he caught five passes for 41 yards.  Buckner recorded a season-high 19 yard-carry against New Mexico (9/9), he also tied his season-high 41 yards and carried the ball three times.  Against Idaho (10/7), he caught two passes for 21 yards, and then versus UTEP (10/30), he tallied 24 yards from five catches. 

 

High School: Buckner was a starting wide receiver for Mansfield Summit in 2004. During his senior season, Buckner earned first team all-district honors, while helping his team to a 9-4 overall record, 6-1 in district play and the quarterfinalists in the state playoffs. He caught 18 passes for 377 yards and a team-leading five touchdowns.

 

Personal:  Buckner was born in Alton, Ill., and is the son of Lloyd Bradley and Cassandra Buckner.  He is pursuing a degree in management.
