Biography

2011 (Senior): Savage redshirted for the Aggies in 2011.

2010 (Junior): Savage played in 12 games for NM State in 2010, recording 36 tackles, 19 solo efforts, three sacks, two forced fumbles, two pass break-ups and a quarterback hurry. His best game of the season came against in-state rival New Mexico (Oct. 9), when he recorded a season-high nine tackles, four tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, two pass break-ups and two sacks. He was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week. Against No. 3 Boise State (Oct. 1), Savage had five tackles. He also grabbed five tackles against LA Tech (Nov. 13). In the season finale versus Hawai'i (Nov. 27), Savage had just one tackles but recorded his third sack of the season. Savage now ranks nine sacks to his credit over his career.

2009 (Sophomore): Savage played in all 13 games for the Aggies as a starting defensive end. He tallied 53 tackles on the season, including 12 tackles for a loss, six sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two pass break-ups and a blocked punt. Savage recorded two games with eight tackles at Ohio State (10/31) and San Jose State (11/28). Both his eight-tackle games were career highs. One of his most productive games of the season came against Utah State (10/10), as Savage tallied seven tackles and two sacks. He also recorded two sacks against Prairie View A&M (9/12). On the season, Savage had six games with at least five tackles and four games with at least one sack. His blocked punt at New Mexico (9/26) was the first blocked punt for the Aggies since the 1999 season, also against New Mexico. Savage was also named to the 2009 Phil Steele's Postseason All-WAC Team.

2008 (Freshman): Savage played in nine games as a true freshman on the defensive line in 2008. On the season, he recorded 11 tackles, three tackles-for-a-loss and two sacks. In his first game as an Aggie, Savage recorded two tackles, two tackles-for-a-loss and two sacks versus Alcorn State (10/4). He tallied a season-high three tackles at Nevada (10/11) and Utah State (11/29). Savage also recorded two tackles at Fresno State (11/15).

Fork Union Military Academy: Savage played one season at Fork Union Military Academy in 2008, helping them to a 10-2 record.

High School: Savage was a first team all-state linebacker as a junior and a senior at Jefferson High School in Portland, Ore. He played in the North/South Lee Shwab Bowl as a senior and led the Democrats to the second round of the state playoffs.

Personal: Savage was born in Portland, Ore., and is the son of Jamie and Albert Savage. He is undecided on a major at New Mexico State.
