2010
(Junior):
Coleman played in all 12 games for NM State in 2010, averaging 7.7 tackles per
game for sixth highest in the WAC. Coleman finished 2010 with 47 solo
tackles, 92 total tackles and four broken-up passes. Coleman also
returned punts for an average of 3.7 yards per return. Coleman had three
games where he recorded double-digit tackle totals. Against San Diego
State (Sept. 11), Coleman made 13 total tackles and six solo tackles, as well
as three punt returns for 11 total yards. Coleman made 12 tackles in each
game against Kansas (Sept. 25) and Louisiana Tech (Nov. 13). All seven of
the tackles made by Coleman against Nevada (Nov. 20) were solo tackles.
Coleman recorded eight total tackles in each game against Boise State (Oct. 1),
Fresno State (Oct. 16) and Idaho (Oct. 23). Against San Jose State (Oct.
30), Coleman had three broken-up passes.
2009
(Sophomore): Coleman played seven games for the Aggies at wide
receiver before moving over to the defensive side of the ball for the final
four games of the year at defensive back. Coleman tallied six catches for 28
yards as a wide receiver. His best receiving game came at New Mexico (9/26) as
he caught three passes for 18 yards. Coleman also recorded 28 rushing yards on
six carries and tallied 67 yards on four kickoff returns on the season. As a
defensive back, Coleman recorded seven tackles, two tackles for a loss and a
sack. Versus Hawai’i (11/14), Coleman recorded a season-high three tackles,
including his first career sack.
Compton
College: Coleman played one season at Compton College as a wide receiver. He
caught 30 passes for 492 yards and two touchdowns.
High School: Coleman was a four-year
letter winner for Lynwood High School. He played wide receiver, running back
and defensive back. He was named an all-league selection in 2007 and
participated in an All-Star game , earning MVP honors. As a senior, Coleman
tallied 39 catches for 538 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran for 691 yards
and six touchdowns and recorded 37 tackles, five pass break-ups and two fumble
recoveries. As a junior, Coleman ran for 1,033 yards, scoring nine touchdowns
on the ground. He caught 21 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns.
Personal: Coleman is the son of
Annie Carter and the grandson of Vivian Carter. He is undecided in his major.
