2012 (Redshirt Freshman): Mckinnis did not play, but was a member of the offensive scout team in 2012.

2011 (Freshman): McKinnis redshirted in 2011.

High School: McKinnis was a huge contributor as an offensive lineman for Frisco Centennial High School. McKinnis was a leader in the Frisco Centennial football program although he primarily has a background in basketball. McKinnis helped lead the Titans to a 6-4 regular season record, which took the Titans to the state playoffs for only the second time in the school's history. As an offense, McKinnis blocked for a Titan offense that threw for 2,731 yards, 25 touchdown passes and rushed for nearly 1,000 yards in 2010. McKinnis was named first team all-district in the 2010 season.

Personal: McKinnis is the son of Craig McKinnis and Qianna Green. He plans to major in economics.
