Biography

2008 (Junior): Cotton played in eight games for the Aggies in 2008 before an elbow injury forced him to the sidelines during the last four games of the season. Cotton recorded 38 tackles, six tackles-for-a-loss, three sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, four quarterback hurries and two pass breakups. Against San Jose State (10/18), Cotton had a career-high 11 tackles and a sack. At Nevada (10/11), he collected 10 tackles, including seven unassisted. He also had a sack against the Wolf Pack. In his first start of the season for the Aggies, Cotton recorded six tackles, two tackles-for-a-loss, a sack and fumble recovery against Alcorn State (10/4). In all, Cotton recorded at least two tackles in seven of the eight games he played in during the season.

 

2007 (Sophomore): Cotton started the first six games for the Aggies at outside linebacker before an ankle injury sidelined him four games in the middle of the season. On the year, Cotton tallied 35 tackles, five quarterback hurries, three pass break-ups and one tackle-for-a-loss of one yard. Against Fresno State (11/30), Cotton recorded a career-high nine tackles, including a pass break-up. Versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff (9/29), he grabbed six tackles. He also tallied five tackles against I-25 rival New Mexico (9/8). Cotton recorded five games with at least four tackles.

 

2006 (Redshirt Freshman): Cotton competed in eight games as a linebacker and on the special teams for the Aggies.  He tallied five tackles, two solo and three assisted.  He posted a single tackle against Southeastern Louisiana (8/31), New Mexico (9/9), San Jose State (11/4), Fresno State (11/11) and Louisiana Tech (12/2).

 

2005 (Freshman):  Cotton red shirted during his first season with the Aggies.

 

High School:  Cotton played two years under coach Darrell Grant at Frank H. Morell High School in Irvington, N.J.  In 2004, he played at the tight end position and helped the Knights to an 8-2 record.  During the 2003 season, while playing both tight end and defensive end, the Knights went 7-3.  He was named to the first team All-Watching Conference, as well as all-area and all-city.  Cotton also ran track for the Knights from 2000-2004. 

 

Personal:  Cotton was born in Newark, N.J., and is the son of Robin Cotton.  He is majoring in early childhood education.
