Redshirt
Junior (2010): Valles made just 12 starts in 18 appearances in 2010 but made the
most of her time at the plate. Valles connected on posted eight hits including
a double and her first career triple to lead to a .258 batting average and a
career high .355 slugging percentage. Her on-base percentage of .415 was also a
career high. Valles scored a career high two runs against Weber State on Feb.
19.
Redshirt
Sophomore (2009): Valles started 18 of the 28 games she competed in and split the
time between second base, shortstop and as a pinch runner. She went 10-for-38
in the box on the year with a .263 batting average. Valles recorded a team-high
nine sacrifice hits throughout the season, scored eight runs, had two doubles
and two RBIs. Valles' first multi-hit game came against Missouri-Kansas City,
Feb. 8, when she went 2-for-3 in the box and scored a run. Her strongest performance of the season
was against Boise State, April 17, when she went 2-for-3 in the box, had an RBI
double and scored a pair of runs.
Redshirt
Freshman (2008): Valles played in 16 games and made four starts at second base for
the Aggies. She had three hits on the year, drove in two runs and scored a run.
In the 4-3 win over Cal State Bakersfield, April 20, Valles had her strongest
performance of the season in the box, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Freshman
(2007): Valles redshirted the 2007 season.
High
School: An all-district selection since eighth grade, Valles led the
state with the highest batting average (.627 batting average) her junior and
senior seasons. She was a member of the district champions and third place team
in the state of New Mexico under Panther coaches Alex Lopez and father Fernie
Valles. She garnered all-district honors her senior year in basketball. Her
high school teammate Angie Ortega also joined Valles at NM State. Valles
graduated in the Top 10 percent of her high school class.
Personal: Valles is the daughter of Marisela and Fernie Valles
and was born in Las Cruces, N.M. She is majoring in education.
