2005: Justin Shopbell will be competing for a starting job his senior year. He is a very smart, articulate and aggressive player with great strength. Shopbell also graduated with a degree in Finance this past spring. He returned to action last year after five hand surgeries.
2004 (Junior): Shopbell saw playing time in 11 games for the Aggies, starting at left guard. Shopbell helped NMSU finish 34th in the nation in passing offense with 243 passing yards a game and 58th in the country in total offense at 372 yards per game.
2003 (Sophomore): Shopbell suffered a hand injury in practice in 2002, and did not see any playing time.
2002 (Redshirt Freshman): Justin missed the entire 2002 season due to injury.
2001 (Freshman): Justin was a redshirt his first year at NMSU.
High School: Justin earned three letters playing for coach Gary Halvorson. He was team captain his junior and senior seasons, started three years on the offensive line and his senior season on the defensive line. He was a two-time All-State, All-Metro and All-Conference honoree and named team MVP and offensive player of the year as a senior. He helped Woodbury to a state 5A championship as a senior. He was the starting center on Woodbury’s basketball team, ranked No. 2 in Minnesota. Justin was a member of Woodbury’s 4.0 (GPA) Club.
Personal: Justin David Shopbell was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is the son of David and Janelle Shopbell. Justin is a Finance major.
