2008 (Junior): Smith was the Aggies’ starting left tackle to open the season before a foot injury sidelined him for two games. He then returned to start games at Nevada (10/11) and San Jose State (10/18) before suffering a knee injury that forced him out of the lineup for the remainder of the year.
2007 (Sophomore): Smith redshirted in his second season with the Aggies.
2006 (Freshman): Smith played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2006. He helped the Aggies finish third in the nation in total offense, second in passing offense and 15th in scoring offense. Individually, Smith assisted in the protection of quarterback Chase Holbrook, who broke 21 school records in 2006. He helped the Aggies record three games with over 500 yards passing, five games with over 400 yards passing and 11 games with over 300 yards passing. As a team, the Aggies also broke three total offensive records, six passing records and tied the school’s scoring record. He helped the Aggies record five 100-yard rushing games as a team.
High School: Smith was a three-year letterwinner for Mansfield Summit High School in Arlington, Texas on the offensive line. In 2005, Smith helped his team to a share of the district title and the second round of the 5A state playoffs as Mansfield Summit went 9-3 overall. Smith was named an all-district selection and also earned All-Tarrant County honors. He was named to the Texas High School 5A first team All-Region 1. Smith was part of three district championship teams during his high school career. In addition to his impressive accomplishments on the field, Smith was also a 3.9 student in high school. Smith was also recruited by Tulane, New Mexico, UTEP and Wyoming.
Personal: Smith is the son of Jesse and Mary Ellen Smith. He plans to major in biology/pre-med.
