2010 (Junior): Matthews red shirted for the Aggies in 2010.

Victor Valley College: Matthews was a two-year starter at linebacker for the Rams. As a senior, Matthews helped the Rams to a 6-4 record in 2009 and a second place finish in league play. He tallied 47 tackles, nine tackles-for-a-loss, three sacks, a forced fumble and an interception. In 2008, Matthews recorded 38 tackles, six tackles-for-a-loss, three sacks, an interception and a quarterback hurry, helping the Rams to a third place finish in league.

High School: Matthews played two years at Serrano High School, earning two letters as a junior and senior. As a senior, Matthews helped the Diamondbacks to an 11-1 record and a league championship. He was selected to the 2008 High Desert All-Star game as a senior.

Personal: Matthews is married to the former Lindy Lynch. He is the son of Wade and Lori Matthews. He plans to major in criminal justice.
