2009 (Junior): Blount played in two games for NM State during the 2009
season. He helped junior running back Seth Smith lead NM State with over 1,000
rushing yards in 2009; the most for an Aggie since 2000. He helped the Aggies
to gain a season total 2,981 offensive yards with 1,141 yards through the air.
He helped the team to keep sacks to a low of 23 for the year as well.
2008 (Sophomore): Blount played in 11
games for the Aggies in 2008 at the right and left tackle. He started at right
tackle in seven games and at left tackle in one game. Blount helped the Aggie
offense rank ninth in the nation in passing offense, averaging 301.3 yards in
the air per game and 64th in total offense, averaging 355.6 yards a contest.
Blount was a vital part of helping quarterback Chase Holbrook throw for 280
yards a game and rank No. 27 in the country in total offense. The Aggie offense
averaged 22.2 points per game, recorded three games with over 100 yards rushing
and seven games with over 300 yards passing, including a 486-yard performance
against Louisiana Tech (11/22).
2007 (Redshirt Freshman): Blount played in 11
games for the Aggies in 2007 as a back-up offensive lineman. He saw most of his
action at the right tackle and right guard positions. Blount helped the Aggie
offense average 331.9 yards passing per game and 423.5 total offensive yards a
game, as the Aggie offense finished fifth in the nation in total offense and
33rd in passing offense. Blount was also part of an offensive line that gave up
just 24 sacks on the season, a 16-sack improvement from 2006 (40). He also
helped Aggie quarterback Chase Holbrook finish ninth in the nation in total
offense with 322.6 yards per game.
2006 (Freshman): Blount was a redshirt
throughout the season.
High School: Blount was a
three-year letterwinner at Richland Hills High School in Dallas, Texas, in
football, track & field and wrestling. He played both center and left
tackle, while bench-pressing an impressive 300 pounds during his senior season.
In 2005, Blount earned second team All-District honors. Blount was also
recruited by UL-Monroe, Houston and Army.
Personal: Patrick is the son of Terry and Laura
Blount. He plans to major in management.
