Biography

2009 (Freshman): Meikel redshirted his freshman year at NM State.

High School: Meikel was a starting defensive lineman and offensive lineman for Yucaipa High School. In 2008, he tallied 69 tackles on the defensive line, including 34 solo efforts. Meikel also tallied six sacks, six tackles-for-a-loss, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Meikel was named a first team all-league selection in 2008 and played in the state all-star game as well. As a junior, Meikel recorded 38 tackles (27 solo). He was also the team’s punter, averaging 36.5 yards a punt.

Personal: Meikel is son of Troy and Cathi Meikel. He plans to major in sports medicine.
