Biography

2005: Royal will battle for the quarterback starting role this coming Fall.

Pima Community College: Gill is a mid-year transfer to New Mexico State from Pima Community College. He was an honorable mention All-Region pick at Pima in 2004 after completing 134 of 241 passes for 1,963 yards, 17 touchdowns and just one interception. Pima finished 9-3, won the Pilgrim’s Pride Bowl Classic and finished fifth in the final NJCAA national poll. He threw the winning touchdown pass with just over three minutes left to go in Pima’s 10-7 upset of #3 Kilgore in the Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Classic. Pima finished 6-3 in the Western States Football League and ranked fourth in the conference in total offense (388 yards per game) and second in scoring (34.9 points per game).

Stephen F. Austin: He redshirted his first season at Stephen F. Austin in 2002 and played in one game in 2003.

High School: Royal led Eagle High School to the Idaho Class 5A state title with an undefeated 12-0 season in 2001. He passed for 2,566 yards and 20 touchdowns his senior season. Royal was named first team All-State his senior season and was a first team All-Conference pick his junior and senior seasons. He threw for 6,409 yards in his high school career. He also led the Eagles to the state semifinals as a sophomore.

Personal: Royal Gill was born in Boise, Idaho, and is the son of Randy and Cheri Gill. He is majoring in Communications.
