2005: Shukree will be the Aggies’ starting left cornerback this coming fall after a solid spring. He also received his bachelor’s degree in Marketing this spring.
2004 (Junior): Shabazz started all 11 games for the Aggies at the left cornerback position in 2004. Shabazz was third on the team in tackles with 68, 38 of those tackles being solo efforts. He also recorded two tackles for a loss, had two interceptions, broke up three passes and forced one fumble. Shabazz had six games with seven or more tackles. Against Troy University (9/17), Shabazz collected a career-high 11 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass break-up. Versus #12 California (9/11) and UTEP (10/2), Shabazz recorded eight tackles, while collecting seven tackles versus Arkansas (9/4), New Mexico (9/24) and UL Lafayette (10/9).
2003 (Sophomore): Shabazz had an outstanding season for the Aggies, registering 45 tackles, tied for sixth in tackles on the team despite not starting a game. Shukree had five or more tackles in each of the Aggies’ final three games and five times all season. He had a career high seven tackles against Western New Mexico (9/6) and Middle Tennessee (10/11). Shabazz had 20 tackles in the final four games including six against Utah State (11/6) and five apiece against Arkansas (11/15) and North Texas (11/25).
2002 (Redshirt Freshman): Shukree played in 11 of 12 games in 2002 and recorded four solo tackles. He played on the Aggie kickoff return team and saw time at safety. He had two solo tackles against UL Monroe (10/19) and one against South Carolina (8/31) and one against New Mexico (9/21).
2001 (Freshman): Shukree was a redshirt his first year at NMSU.
High School: Shukree was an All-State defensive back and All-District halfback at Gadsden High School. He led the Panthers in tackles, touchdowns, reception yards and fumbles caused his senior year. He was a district champion in the 110-meter hurdles and was a state meet qualifier. He was a member of the honor roll and graduated in the top 10 percent of his senior class.
Personal: Shukree is the younger brother of NFL draft pick and former Aggie all-star safety Siddeeq Shabazz. He has two younger brothers. Sina plays football at Las Cruces High School and Siju is one of the top amateur boxers in the state and an NMSU student. His older brother, Shaheed, is a 1st lieutenant and helicopter pilot in the U.S. Marines. He is the son of Q. and Saint Shabazz.
