2006 (Junior): Sargent competed in 11 games at defensive end for NMSU. He recorded 14 tackles, four solo and 10 assisted, had three tackles for-a-loss of five yards, recovered a fumble and collected one pass break-up. Against San Jose State (11/14) he tallied five tackles, had three tackles for-a-loss of five yards and one pass break-up. Versus Fresno State (11/11) and Utah State (11/25) he recorded two tackles. Sargent also had one fumble recovery against Texas Southern (9/16).
2005 (Sophomore): Sargent played in eleven of the Aggies twelve games, coming up with 27 tackles. His best game came against Fresno State when he produced five tackles, two of them being for a loss. He also grabbed four tackles against Louisiana Tech (10/1) and three tackles against UTEP (9/3), Colorado (9/10) and San Jose State (11/19). Sargent has at least one tackle in every game he played.
2004 (Freshman): Skyler did not play during the 2004 season.
High School: Sargent lettered all four years at Valley High School in Albuquerque under head coach Vince Collins. Sargent helped lead the Vikings to district championships his freshman, sophomore and senior seasons, including a trip to the state semi-finals his sophomore year. He earned All-District honors his senior season and honorable mention all-district his junior season. Sargent also lettered four years in wrestling at VHS, earning All-District honors his junior and senior years. Sargent compiled 30 tackles, 53 assists, four fumble recoveries and seven sacks for a loss of 105 yards his senior year. During his junior season, he had 18 solo tackles, 37 assists and two and a half sacks for a loss of 54 yards.
Personal: Skyler Allen Sargent was born in Albuquerque, N.M., and is the son of Scott Sargent and Alicia Sullivan-Sargent. He is majoring in Hotel, Tourism and Restaurant Management.
