Biography

2010 (Senior): Hatchett did not play for the Aggies in 2010. 

2009 (Junior): Hatchett was the Aggies’ starting free safety for all 13 games in 2009. On the season, Hatchett tallied 98 tackles, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, a interception, eight pass break-ups and two tackles for a loss. He also recorded four double-digit tackles games, including three straight to end the season. In his first start for the Aggies against Idaho (9/5), Hatchett tallied five tackles and his first career interception. Against Prairie View A&M (9/12), he recorded a then career-high nine tackles, including his first career forced fumble. Hatchett had his first career double-digit tackle game versus Fresno State (10/24) with 13 tackles, including a tackle for a loss and a pass break-up. In the Aggies’ final three games, Hatchett shined as he tied his career-high 13 tackles against Nevada (11/21), followed by two 12-tackle performances at San Jose State (11/28) and Boise State (12/5).

2008 (Sophomore): Hatchett played in all 12 games for NM State in 2008 as both a defensive back and on special teams after lining up at wide receiver in 2007. Hatchett was the Aggies’ best cover man on the punt team forcing one fumble and recovering a fumble. He tallied 19 tackles on the season, including a season-high five tackles at Utah State (11/29). He had seven games that he recorded at least two tackles.

2007 (Freshman): Hatchett played in six games for the Aggies in 2007 at the wide receiver position. On the season, he caught two passes for eight yards. He also returned two kickoffs for 47 yards. Against Boise State (10/7), he caught two passes for eight yards. Versus Utah State (10/17), Hatchett returned his first kickoff for a season-high 33 yards. He added one more kick return against Fresno State (11/30) for 14 yards.

High School: Hatchett was the running back for the Warwick Raiders in 2005 & 2006. As a senior, he was named a first team all-district selection as a running back, after rushing for 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns. He helped his team to a 5-5 overall record in 2006. As a junior, Hatchett led his team to a 6-4 record and a fourth place finish in district.

Personal: Stephon is the son of Daryle Wilson and Roshell Hatchett. He plans to major in business management.
