Biography

2009 Outdoor (Junior):  In her third season in Crimson and White, Hurtado was a consistent threat in the middle distance races for the Aggies.  She earned second team All-WAC honors after bringing home a sixth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:40.79.  However, her season-best performance in the 1,500-meter run came at the Long Beach Invitational (April 18), when Hurtado clocked a time of 4:39.7, which places her fifth on NM State's all-time record list.  Additionally, Hurtado competed in the 800-meter run at the Willie Williams Invitational (March 20), when she recorded a time of 2:20.01. 

Indoor: Hurtado set NM State's all-time 1,000-meter record and etched her name onto a pair other lists.  During the opening meet of the season, the Lobo Opener (Jan. 17), Hurtado crossed the line in a time of 3:09.70 and shattered the record by 13 seconds.  She also owns the fifth-place slot in the 3,000-meter (10:27.25) and mile run (5:11.67).

Cross Country (Sophomore): Hurtado participated in every race for the Aggies in 2008 and consistently scored in each race.  She had a trio of seventh-place finishes throughout the year at the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational (Sept. 6), in Santa Teresa, N.M., the Kachina Classic (Sept. 20), in Las Cruces, N.M., and at the Arizona State Invitational (Oct. 3), in Tempe, Ariz.  However, her standout performance of the season came at the WAC Championships (Nov. 1), when recorded 16th-place finish overall and was third for the Aggies in a time of 19:08.0.  This time marks a 40-second improvement from the Kachina Classic earlier this season that was ran on the same course. 

2008 Outdoor (Sophomore): Hurtado competed in the 800-meter run and the 1,500-meter run for the Aggies during the outdoor season.  She posted a season-best mark in the 800-meter run at the Willie Williams Classic (March 21), as she clocked a time of 2:25.00.  In the 1,500-meter run she recorded a personal-best time of 4:50.98 at the WAC Championships (May 15-17).

Indoor: Hurtado complete in the middle-distance races for the Aggies in 2008 and etched her name onto two events on the NM State all-time record list.  The first was in the mile run with a time of 5:21.64, placing her eighth overall.  She did that at the Southwest Classic Invitational (Feb.16).  The second was in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:09.28. Hurtado broke this NM State record at the Texas Tech Invitational (Jan. 19).

Cross Country (Freshman): Hurtado competed in all seven races for the Aggies in 2007, including being one of four Aggies to compete at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships.  At the WAC Championships, Hurtado recorded her fastest time of the season when she stopped the clock at 18:07, good for 30th place.  She recorded her best finish of the season when she finished third at the Kachina Classic with a time of 19:00.  At the NCAA Mountain Regional Championship, Hurtado placed second for the Aggies, recording time of 23:06 while placing 81st overall.

2007 Outdoor (Freshman): Hurtado competed in the distance events for the Aggies.  In the 1,500-meter run, she recorded a season best with a time of 4:48.63 at the UTEP Spring Invitational (March 31).  At the Dr. Pepper Invitational (March 24), Hurtado posted a lifetime best in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:57.86 and at the WAC Championships (May 12), she posted a career best in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:39.47 and placing 15th.

Indoor: At the WAC Indoor Championships (Feb.24-25), Hurtado posted a time of 5:21.46 in the mile run and in the 3,000-meter run she recorded a time of 11:10.42.

Cross Country: Hurtado did not compete in the cross country season.

High School: Hurtado competed in track and field and volleyball while at Valley High School in Albuquerque, N.M. She was a state qualifier in the mile run and led the medley team to state as well.  Hurtado was also an all-city competitor in the 1,600-meter run, with a personal best time of 5:27. In volleyball, She was named the student-athlete of the year in 2005. She also earned first team all-district in 2004-05.

Personal: Hurtado is the daughter of Bob and Charlotte Hurtado. She is pursuing a degree in kinesiology.
