High School: Valdez is a 2008 graduate of Tularosa High School in Tularosa, N.M., where she was a member of the track, volleyball and basketball teams. Valdez was a five-time letter winner in track and field, lettered in basketball four years and was a three-year letter winner in volleyball. Valdez was a state placer in the discus from 2005-08, including a state championship her senior season. She placed in the top 5 in the state meet for the shot put all four years of high school and placed in the top 3 in the 100-meter dash from 2007-08. As a junior, Valdez helped her 1,600-meter medley team to a fifth-place finish at state. She was a top placer in the 200-meter dash as a junior as well. Valdez helped her volleyball team to a district championship and state appearance in 2004. She assisted the Wildcats basketball team to a state showing in 2008 and a district title in 2005.

 Personal: Valdez is the daughter of Jordan and Barbara Valdez and is majoring in business.
