Ted Miller joined the New Mexico State track and field and cross country staff in 2018.
During the 2019 outdoor season, six New Mexico State athletes qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds. Crissey Amberg, Lashira Tremble, and Hannah Smith returned for a second appearance while Keosha Sanders, Camira Haughton and Taniya Mitchell competed at the meet for the first time in their careers.
NM State posted a second place finish as a team and eight individual titles went home with the Aggie squad. Mitchell posted a first place finish in the hammer throw at the WAC Championships that also resulted in a program record mark of (60-98m, 200-0). Also breaking a program record during the 2019 season was Asjah Wallace, who clocked in at 13.72 in the 100m hurdles Elana Kresl, who posted a time of 10:47.66 in the 3,000m steeplechase, and Crissey Amberg, who recorded a time of 4:23.89 in the 1,500m and 2:10.10 in the 800m.
The Aggies finished second at the WAC Indoor Championships in 2019 with seven individual titles belonging to the Crimson and White. Keosha Sanders (7.42) and Asjah Wallace (8.45) set program records for the 60m and the 60m hurdles, respectively, at the conference meet. Additionally, Wallace was named the meet’s outstanding track performer and the high point award winner. Both Taniya Mitchell (18.77m, 61-7) and Yemisi Oroyinyin (20.16m, 66-1.75) posted marks that bested the previous program record for the weight throw.
During the 2018 cross country season, Miller saw the women’s cross country team place fourth at the conference championships while the men came away with eighth. Julia Yescas and Jess Dominguez earned all-conference accolades following the postseason meet.
