Biography

2012 Outdoor (Junior): Cota competed in a wide range of events for the Aggies in the 2012 Outdoor season, ranging from sprints to jumps to throwing events.  Cota also competed in the heptathlon at the WAC Championships (May 8), ending with a score of 4,297, which placed her ninth all-time for NM State.  Her finish also earned her second team All-WAC honors.  Cota marked a distance of 5.71m in the long jump at the 2012 Texas State Bobcat Classic (April 27), which placed her eighth all-time for NM State.  Cota also competed in the triple jump, posting a season-best mark of 11.51m at the 2012 Willie Williams Classic (March 16), just shy of breaking her career-best record of 11.55m. 

2012 Indoor (Junior): Cota participated in a variety of events for NM State during the 2012 indoor season, ranging from jumps to relays.  Cota competed in the long jump for most of the season, notching her best distance of 5.50m at the Air Force Invitational (Feb. 10).  Cota posted her top distance of 11.59m for the triple jump at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic (Feb. 3), currently sitting at sixth all-time for NM State.  Cota also ran the 200m throughout the season, posting a season-best time of 26.32 at the New Mexico Collegiate Invitational (Jan. 27).  Cota competed in the pentathlon at the WAC Indoor Championships, earning a total of 2957 points, which places her sixth all-time for NM State in the event.

2011 Outdoor (Sophomore): Cota spent most of the season participating in jumping and relay events.  Cota marked her best long jump distance of 5.50m at the Texas Tech Open and recorded her best triple jump distance of 11.55m at the UTEP Invitational.  Cota also ran in the 4x100m relay, posting her best time of 47.43 at the 2011 Mesa Classic.  Cota also ran the 100m at the New Mexico Tailwind Invitational with a time of 13.09 and the 200m at the 2011 Willie Williams Classic with a time of 26.99.

2011 Indoor (Sophomore): Cota did not compete during the 2011 indoor season.

2010 Outdoor (Freshman): Cota competed in the 100m dash and long jump for the Aggies during the 2010 outdoor season.  Cota's furthest long jump of the year came at the Western Athletic Conference Championships where she leapt 17'9.75".

2010 Indoor (Freshman): Cota became fourth on the Aggies all-time list in the long jump during 2010 after her performance at the Lobo Opener, where she had a leap of 5.76m.  Cota also competed in the 60m and 200m dashes for the Aggies.

High School: Cota received track and field all-district accolades as a sophomore and junior while at Burges High School in El Paso, Texas. She was a district champion in the long jump and triple jump in 2007. Cota finished third in the 100-meter dash and second in the long jump as a senior. She was also part of the two-time district champion basketball team at Burges.

Personal: Cota is the daughter of Frank and Anita Cota. She plans to major in English.
