2009 Outdoor (Junior): In her second season in Crimson and White, Veney was a consistent force for the Aggies in the throwing events. After earning the WAC Championship title in the discus, Veney was one of three Aggies to represent NM State at the 2009 NCAA Midwest Regionals. At the regional meet, Veney competed in the discus throw and placed 19th from a distance of 142-09. Veney earned the ticket to the regional meet after a strong performance at the Azusa Invitational with a distance of 159-04. She also earned first team All-WAC status after her impressive first-place performance in the discus throw (157-06) at the 2009 WAC Track and Field Championships (May 13-16). However, her season-best throw in the discus was set at the Don Kirby Invitational (May 2), when she recorded a launch of 161-3. She set a season-best throw in the shot put of 45-5 at the season-opener, the UTEP Springtime Invitational (March 28), and then in the hammer she recorded a mark of 169-9.25 at the UTEP Invitational (April 11).
2008 Outdoor (Sophomore): Veney competed in the throwing events for the Aggies and was one of three student-athletes to throw at the NCAA Midwest Regional Meet, in Lincoln, Neb., she broke the school record in the discus and earned first team All-WAC honors. In the discus at the regional meet, Veney placed 14th overall, while recording a launch of 155-07. However, she recorded the record-breaking performance at the Springtime Invitational (March 29), when she threw a distance of 168-08. Veney also ranks fourth and fifth on the NM State all-time list in the shot put and hammer throw, respectively. In the shot put she recorded a personal-best toss of 44-8.25 at the Ram Open (April 19), and in the hammer she tallied a season-best performance of 164-09 at the WAC Championships (May 15-17).
Indoor: During her first season as an Aggie Veney had stand-out performances in both the weight throw and the shot put. At the WAC Championships (Feb. 28-March 1), she recorded a season-best distance in the weight throw with a toss of 53-03.00, which placed her sixth at the meet and ranked her second on the NM State all-time record list. In the shot put, Veney reached a season-best distance of 43-08.50 (Jan. 26), which placed her seventh overall and second on the NM State all-time record list.
Prior to NM State: Veney attended the University of Massachusetts-Amherst from 2005-06. At UMASS, Veney set school records in the shot put and was also a NCAA weightlifting All-American.
High School: Veney is a graduate from Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she earned four letters in track and field. Currently, Veney holds the school record in the hammer throw, discus and shot put.
Personal: Veney is the daughter of Michele Veney and is pursuing a degree in geology and foreign language.
