Biography
Junior: Thornburg was named to the 2004 All-Sun Belt Golf Team and made his first ever NCAA West Regional appearance. He finished second at three tournaments, including the 2004 Sun Belt Conference Championships (5/19-21) where he shot 76-69-70--215. He also placed second at the Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (4/5-6) with scores of 69-71-74--214. He finished second at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate (3/8-9) with scores of 69-66-73--208. His 66 in the second round was a season-low round. He competed in 10 tournaments for the Aggies and was the top Aggie finisher in four tournaments. He finished third on the team in scoring average with a 73.77.
Sophomore: Brian competed in 10 tournaments as a sophomore in 2002-2003 and averaged 75.63 a round. He fired a low-round 70 in two tournaments and placed in a tie for 14th at the William H. Tucker. He also placed 20th at the Wolfpack Invitational with a three-round score of 216.
Freshman: Competed in all 10 tournaments as a freshman and recorded the team’s lowest round of the season (66). He finished second on the team with a 74.1 season scoring average. He recorded three top 10 and eight top 25 finishes. He finished tied for fifth at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate with a season low round of 217. He finished tied for 10th at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate (221) and at the Victoria Intercollegiate (225). He finished tied for 15th at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational (217). He inished tied for 18th at the Sun Belt Championship (224).
High School: He earned four letters at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, N.M. where he won the Albuquerque City Championship in 2000 & 2001. He was also the New Mexico State runner-up in 2000 and 2001.
Personal: Brian Thornburg was born in Albuquerque, N.M. He is the son of Dan and Norma Thornburg. He is majoring in Marketing.
