Biography
2009-10 (UTEP): Ortiz participated in three tournaments in his first season, compiling a stroke average of 78.9 for the Miners. His season-bests for score (222) and round (72) came at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate He was named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.
High School: Ortiz attended Sandia High School in Albuquerque, N.M. He competed in golf, basketball, and football and was a four-time all-state and four-time all-conference golfer, helping his team to three state championships.
Personal: Ortiz is the son of Jerry and Christine Ortiz. He plans to major in business at NM State.
