2009 Outdoor (Sophomore): In her second season in Crimson and White, Vega added strong depth in the throwing events.  At the UTEP Invitational (April 11), Vega recorded a season-best toss in the discus throw after recording a mark of 112-6.5 and at the Don Kirby Invitational (May 2), Vega recorded a season-best throw of 122-9.5 in the hammer throw.

High School: Vega is a 2007 graduate of Carrizozo High School in Carrizozo, N.M., where she lettered in track and field, basketball and volleyball for five years. As a standout thrower, Vega led the Grizzlies to five consecutive district championships and a state championship. Individually, Vega was a state champion in the discus in 2007. She placed second as a junior and third as a sophomore as well. She was a state runner-up in the shot put as a junior and senior. She was also a javelin thrower and a runner. Vega helped her track, volleyball and basketball teams to five consecutive district and regional championships.

Personal: Vega is the daughter of Gary Vega and Lisa Grenshaw.  She is majoring in animal science/pre-vet.
